January 11th was National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. On December 30, 2011, President Obama proclaimed January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
We launched our SOAP initiative which provided a small care package with a hotel bar of soap including quick facts about human trafficking, a hotline number and other contact information. The care packages also included toothpaste and a toothbrush. These care packages were assembled during our Links National Day of Service on November 9th.
These SOAP packages were delivered to four homeless shelters on January 11th including the Women Center of Wake County; Family Promise of Wake County; WRenn House; and Helen Wright Center/Urban Ministries of Wake County.
