March 13, 2019 - An Evening of African Culture at Elders Peak

On March 13th, the International Trends and Services Facet hosted its third annual cultural evening event at Elders Peak. This year’s program was titled “An Evening of African Culture” which included dinner catered from an African restaurant, Palace International in Durham. The program presented a “fusion” of African facts about the continent and some of its countries, an informal fashion show with designs from Vivid Emporium (Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Cape Verde), an African dinner based on a traditional east African meal from Kenya, including a variety of African music. Additionally, exhibits were displayed to include an African drum, wooden masks and statues, jewelry, cloth, basket, a flag from Uganda, and a framed cloth painting. Centerpieces, with representations of African country flags were raffled to residents.
