The National Trends and Services Facet (NTS) organized our first food distribution activity with the Sir Walter Raleigh residential facility on Tuesday, Oct 13, 2020. The facility provides downtown housing for residents of lower income. Unfortunately, the residents’ local resources have been negatively impacted from the closure of Dollar General and CVS. Our intent was to assist with easing the residents’ financial burden by distributing boxes of nonperishable foods provided by the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
In partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and a grant from PNC Bank, we were able to effectively unload, arrange and distribute 339 boxes totaling 2,445 pounds of food goods to over 100 of the 162 residents. The multicultural residents were grateful to receive the assistance and a few of them pitched in to ensure the food was distributed to those most in need.
